Stratford and area brides got social with local wedding experts at the Stratford Country Club on Friday, November 3. It was our very first Wedding Social, an alternative to the traditional wedding show which we envisioned and executed so brides could have one-on-one conversations with local vendors. Rather than being ushered through a large conference style exhibition, brides were able to enjoy a leisurely and fun evening of wedding planning bliss.

For all of those who were unable to attend or just want to reminisce, we’ve highlighted the festivities!

Food and Beverage:

As with any event, our main goal was to ‘wow’ brides through their taste buds. In doing so, we made sure everyone was able to try tasty treats to showcase the hors d’oeuvres Stratford Country Club has to offer. Vendors such as The Caversham House Bed & Breakfast and Bright Eyes Cake Design also had delicious snacks to show their culinary skills.

The Stratford Country Club offered a free wine sample to guests and supplied bartenders to man the cash bar so nobody was left without a beverage on their Friday night.

We had a vision of intimacy for this show and it is something we’ll maintain moving forward. With many requests from local vendors to be part of the evening, it was hard to keep our specialists to a minimum.

We hope to give many different companies an opportunity to partake in future shows to share their passions. We were in awe over the immense knowledge and enthusiasm our vendors shared – each company brought something unique to the table in terms of wedding planning. To showcase their talents, Music Central provided the musical accompaniment to the fashion show, Red Carpet Rentals created a bingo card to get everyone talking and Stratford Blooms tossed a bouquet to a slew of future Mrs’.

From the tables, to music, decor and brides walking amongst the crowd in stunning gowns, we wanted to capture the spirit of wedding planning and the magic that lights the way to new beginnings.

We rounded up a selection of vendors to speak for a few moments interspersed between models to keep the evening flowing. First up was Jessie Jacob, Events Manager of the Stratford Country Club. She delivered details about the venue and food options. She was followed by Jessica Faria Stacey of Bonafide Events Studio who spoke about planning details and best-practices for selecting vendors. We also had Rob from Music Central share many of his tips he’s gathered throughout the years and Heather Sydorko of Makeup Artistry by Heather who gave a wonderful speech surrounding the letters of L-O-V-E. Ending on a high note – and one many brides seem to forget, she urged to simply “Enjoy the process, enjoy the evening, enjoy your partner – and have FUN.”

Lastly, the night’s MC’s from Moore Creative Consulting were jovial, fun and off-the-cuff in order to remind listeners that above all, wedding planning should be fun!

Fashion Show:

Announced by the MC’s and modelled by friends of Devine Wedding Design, gowns from Mina Interactive Bridal Design consisted of bridesmaid, party and wedding dresses with looks spanning from destination, alternative and traditional – for a complete picture of wedding possibilities.

With two male models, we saw a variety of outfit options from a black Hugo Boss suit, a grey Joe by Joseph Abboud suit and a navy Joe by Joseph Abboud. We also saw a low-key and very stylish groom pairing a Michael Kors shirt with Ralph Lauren pants and brown dress shoes, perfect for a backyard or industrial wedding.

We were lucky to have immense support from many local businesses for filling our swag bags and from vendors for many unique door prizes.

Our swag bags were worth over $200 in coupons and goods all which help the bride at different portions of the wedding process. We’d like to thank Kelsey’s Stratford for giving ‘Bride Cards’ for a free brownie pop dessert, and 15% off all wedding related party bills including bridal, engagement and rehearsal parties. As well, Relish Day Spa for giving 20% off any service, Staples Stratford for a $50 printing coupon and Yecenia Salon for offering brides $30 when booking a group for wedding-day hair. We’re thankful for fun swag from The Wedding Ring, Realtor Paul Marshall and a Tupperware rep!

Throughout the latter half of the night, our MC’s sprang fun activities upon the brides for chances to win bottles of wine supplied by Devine Wedding Design. Red Carpet Rentals’ bingo cards gave brides a chance to win $100 off rentals, Heather Dietz Photography gave a gift certificate, Bonafide Events Studio an emergency kit, White Spruce Acres a date night package and Bright Eyes Cake Design gave a free admission to one of her baking workshops. Lastly, our grand prize was for all our lovely guests who pre-registered. Putting their names into a vase, we pulled one lucky winner, who would walk away with $500 off their Devine Wedding Design decor package.

Needless to say, it was an action-packed, fun-filled evening with plenty of giveaways, swag, laughs, tips and tricks and overall wedding planning fun. We could not have dreamed of a better show and it was largely because of our talented vendors who offered their knowledge, enthusiasm and gifts. Wedding planning takes a village, so in the spirit of things, so did this show – and we couldn’t be more thankful.

Stay tuned for future socials, we’d love to meet you! #dwdweddingsocial
